My education time in D B College, Parumala, where my mum Professor G Sethu Amma(zoology) who was a teacher there gives me so many fond memories. I finished my Bachelor's Degree in Mathematics from there. The dedicated teachers in the mathematics department at D B College gave their full support and guidance throughout my time there. They gave me the confidence in pursuing my further studies in mathematics. I completed my B.Sc. at DB Pampa College, Parumala, majoring in Mathematics and minoring in Statistics and Physics. The Mathematics and Statistics programs operated under the same department, and the faculty there played an extraordinary role in shaping my academic journey. The strong academic foundation I received at Pampa College enabled me to excel in my higher studies and build a successful career across India, Saudi Arabia, and the United States in database management and cybersecurity. My long-standing passion for education—and the influence of my inspiring teachers—eventually led me to spend 25 years in higher education, working in information technology and serving as an adjunct faculty member at St. John’s University and Fordham University in New York City. I now serve the City of New York in cybersecurity, and I credit much of my professional and academic growth to the grounding I received at Pampa College.

I spent five formative years completing my Pre-Degree and BSc in Mathematics (1983–1988). Coming from a modest economic and educational background, my time at Pampa College shaped the foundation of my academic and professional journey. The dedicated faculty—whose names I still fondly remember—instilled in me the values of curiosity and perseverance.
Although I was not the most studious student, the college nurtured my potential and gave me the confidence to pursue higher studies. After graduating, I went on to earn a Master’s in Social Work, an MPhil in Community Health, and a PhD in Public Health. For over three decades, I have worked in public health programmes in India and globally, and for the past 20 years, I have served with the World Health Organization, including 18 years in Geneva.
Looking back, I realize how deeply mathematics influenced my thinking. While I may have left behind complex equations, the analytical mindset I developed at Pampa College has been invaluable in my work—especially in using data to improve health outcomes worldwide. DB Pampa College was not just an institution; it was the launchpad for a lifelong journey of learning and service.
